Life is moments of constant change. We never remain stagnant – we’re either growing or declining. As we analyze growing vs. declining, naturally we want to foster more on the growth side. So how do we generate more growth in our lives?
Our lives are filled with people, experiences, and resources that propel us forward to bettering ourselves. Mentors, books, coaches, music, community leaders, and the list continues endlessly. What we’re surrounded by that creates a propulsion towards our better selves are what I call ACCELERATORS.
While accelerators may be abundant, human behavior isn’t necessarily inviting them into our everyday habits. Books take time. Mentors require us to be vulnerable and come with a learner mindset. Workout plans require us to be disciplined. It’s not a matter of can we find something to help me become my better self, it’s a matter of whether we’re willing to open our minds to inviting in these accelerators.
Inviting in more accelerators takes vulnerability. It takes a willingness to be uncomfortable at times. This uncomfortableness and vulnerability create space for growth to happen – for these accelerators to create that added boost to propel us to our better tomorrow. No matter how big or how small the accelerator is, the critical part is we’re taking a step towards our better tomorrow.
In this series of blogs, each message will provide an opportunity to take another step towards what that better tomorrow can be. The question will be, do you want to step into uncomfortableness and vulnerability to experiment with what growth can take place?
Take your step: in the week ahead identify and invite in one more accelerator that typically is overlooked. Take more time to read, network with someone new, use an app on your phone that provides easy access to health and fitness tips – whatever the accelerator is create space to invite in one more this week.
